Liquid Nitrogen: An Emissionless Fuel Option
With the increase in hybridization of vehicles, it was inevitable liquid nitrogen would be among the considerations for emissionless fuel options. In areas of the country where pollution emissions are high, states have begun to look at a wide range of choices of emissionless fuel options. Liquid nitrogen is high on the list of fuel choices. In the process of creating fuel for car engines, a heat exchanger extracts heat from ambient air and the result is a pressurized gas. This is the fuel used for pistons, batteries and engines.

A Liquid Nitrogen Hybrid – Cleaner Fuel Options
The process of storing liquid nitrogen in fuel cells is not without merit. Nickel Cadmium fuel cells are currently used as fuel exchangers in certain hybrid vehicles. There are specific safety considerations when choosing liquid nitrogen as a fuel option. With regard to these safety issues, liquid nitrogen as fuel is an advancing technology. Coupled with an electrical power source the recycle process would reduce pollution considerably as compared to fossil fuels. It’s safer to dispose of and requires no transport of fuel which can be cost-prohibitive. In terms of refueling, it’s more timely and efficient.
